Enhanced volatile organic compound sensing properties of BiFeO3 by carbon fibres addition

In the present work, pure BiFeO3 (BFO) particles were synthesized by sol-gel method and mixed with carbon fibre to form composites (x%CFs-BFO, where x corresponds 0, 4, 8 10 wt.%) hydrothermal treatment at 150?C. The resulting composite powders characterized X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherm scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDX). used for gas sensors preparation manual deposition of their mixture polyvinyl alcohol on alumina tubes ending two silver electrodes. impedance sensitive layers was determined spectroscopy in temperature range 100-250?C different gaseous concentrations. detection properties fabricated various volatile organic compounds investigated. showed better sensitivity acetone compared other gases. addition fibres improved vapour from 64 135% 100 ppm reduced optimum operating 20?C response recovery times (26 s/15 s) (18 s/10 s). This study revealed that x%CFs-BiFeO3 are promising candidates sensors.
